Coldeye Surface Temperature Sensor
Tired of having to take readings of your basking spot with a temperature gun? Setting up a new heat source and want to check for fluctuations? Want peace of mind when you're out and about that your heat source is still functioning? Coldeye has your back with our new Surface Temperature Sensor!
Accurate basking spot temperature measurement is vital to your exotic pet's health, and to date the only way to accurately measure it has been with a handheld temperature gun, as regular thermometers do not give accurate measurements. Our Surface Temperature Sensor uses infrared lasers to measure the temperature of the basking surface, is mounted inside the enclosure, and takes readings automatically. This enables you to see the temperature remotely, see the temperature history, and gives you peace of mind.
Please note, you cannot use a Coldeye sensor, meter or peripheral without a Hub.

Product description
Achieving the perfect basking temperature is a cornerstone of exotic pet care, especially for species such as reptiles, amphibians, and other basking animals that rely heavily on accurate heat sources to regulate their body temperature and maintain optimal health. Traditional methods, like handheld infrared temperature guns, require constant manual checks, introducing inconvenience and the risk of inaccuracies or missed fluctuations. Coldeye revolutionises this critical aspect of pet care with our advanced Surface Temperature Sensor - offering precision, convenience, and peace of mind.
Our Surface Temperature Sensor is specifically engineered to provide continuous and highly accurate temperature measurements of basking spots, significantly improving on traditional manual methods. Utilising infrared technology, the sensor automatically measures the exact surface temperature inside your pet’s enclosure, delivering real-time data directly to your smartphone through the intuitive Coldeye app. Say goodbye to repetitive manual checks and hello to effortless, accurate, and reliable monitoring around the clock.
Designed for easy integration within any exotic pet environment, our sensor measures a compact 32mm x 34mm x 16mm. Flexible mounting options mean it can be securely fixed with M3 screws in wooden or PVC enclosures or effortlessly mounted to glass enclosures using the supplied magnetic attachment. This thoughtful versatility ensures your pet’s basking temperatures are monitored precisely from the optimal position, no matter your enclosure type.
The sensor's sophisticated infrared system delivers precise and targeted temperature readings over various distances, clearly defined by its coverage capability. Whether your heat source is positioned 5cm away, covering an area of approximately 1.5cm in diameter, or up to 50cm away, effectively monitoring a larger 9.3cm diameter basking spot, the Coldeye Surface Temperature Sensor ensures consistently accurate temperature data. This detailed spatial mapping capability ensures that you always receive precise data about the exact area critical to your pet’s well-being.
Reliability and accuracy are core commitments at Coldeye, and our Surface Temperature Sensor demonstrates this clearly. With an anticipated accuracy of ±0.2°C, it meets the highest standards of precision demanded by dedicated exotic pet owners and professionals alike. Continuous automated readings allow you to monitor historical temperature trends and quickly identify any unexpected fluctuations or equipment issues, enabling swift intervention before any harm comes to your pet.
Powered by efficient, long-lasting batteries, our sensor is optimised to deliver stable, consistent performance, reducing maintenance demands and maximising reliability. Its thoughtful design ensures minimal disturbance to your pet’s natural behaviours, blending seamlessly into your enclosure environment while providing critical environmental information in the background.
